•Year:
 2012
•Location:
 Volcán Montsacopa, Olot - Cataluña.

Olot is the capital of the region of La Garrotxa, located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, between the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees, one hour away from Barcelona. The town is surrounded by the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, a unique landscape defined by the most interesting volcanic ecosystem of the Iberian Peninsula, topography and a humid climate that allows forests of varied vegetation and a humanized nature, with respect and balance that makes up a rich agricultural and forestall mosaic. The valleys of Olot are articulated through the course of the river Fluvià and its natural and industrial environment, farmsteads scattered in the landscape, the small towns, the orchards and the historical paths through the landscape. In terms of historical architecture, Olot has examples of Renaissance, Baroque, Modernism (Casa Solà-Morales or Gaietà Vila) and an interesting example of urbanism, in the expansion of Malagrida neighborhood, a reference in the model of the garden city.

SECTOR OF INTERVENTION
The volcanic cone Montsacopa is a defined Natural Reserve in the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of the Garrotxa.
Area: 236,900 m2
PROBLEMS
- Volcano under severe urban pressure.
- Vegetation cover, which is very transformed, with little arboreal presence it does not fit to the volcanic morphology.
- Existence of specific morphology and landscape impacts.
- The high slope areas and soft substrate, located in the volcanic cone, are vulnerable to soil erosion.
- Excavated areas to the east and south-west of space.
- Dense network of power lines within the space.
- Issues of appearance of unnatural elements linked to orchards and other uses.

OPPORTUNITIES
- The geological and scenic values of the Montsacopa make him a unique heritage able to attract tourism and establish itself as a didactic and pedagogical point.
- A natural reserve open to the city. Natural viewpoint of the city and the landscape.

THE PROJECT
PLANNING / Uses
- Planning and zoning internal uses.
- Empowerment of agricultural uses, especially organic gardening, as a social element.
FLOW / CONNECTIVITY
- An educational and pedagogical route was projected, linked to the "Centre dels Volcans" and the main accesses to the volcano. At the starting point you can see the "Gredal" and inside the volcano. Then you need to study its continuity towards the way up to the crater. The route continues to surround the crater and ends with the descent in the western slope of the volcano and links again with the "Centre deals Volcans".
- Definition of basic access routes from the city to Montsacopa, which should be easily identified and readable for all types of mobility to strengthen their attraction. Possible annular route to connect the volcano with the city.

NATURAL RESOURCES - LANDSCAPE
- Study of the limits and creation of spaces of transition between the city and the volcano.
- Landscape integration, based on the visual and the type of vegetation that is best suited for each situation.
- Identification of existing uses of the volcano and proposal for solutions for landscape integration.
- Removal of trees and shrubs, which colonize the geological attractions. Restoration of clay pits.
- It is necessary, perform a specific regulation of agricultural uses, especially the orchards, avoiding degrading elements derived of these peri-urban areas.
- Landscape integration of attacks that affect the morphology of the volcano and its visual unity. Recovery corresponding to the old quarry area, which is a municipal property.

Masterplan en Río de Janeiro

Masterplan in Río de Janeiro

The first intention was to respond to the existing problems between the formal and informal city. In aligning acrobatically, as in a game, all beams of lines which follow a direction. Keep on paper all aspects of the project in which you work.
This accumulation of lines and through a careful and precise work, but also playful and risky, we select the action guidelines.
It is about regenerating a fragment of the city where the roads, the ride, the parking and the new project that includes textile workshops, mechanics, food and various shopping areas, forms a bundle of lines running in parallel, but also it intersect at different points, achieving a continuity between formal and informal, and at the same time thinking about future actions that would make a better use of the site.

The project is a clear commitment to build the corner and solve urban pedestrian access, at a point of high traffic flow both pedestrian and vehicular.
Access by train to the terminal, is proposed in the opposite direction (west to east), respecting to the current path of the railroad tracks and the circulation of buses, and bus departure bays are resolved with access from AV. Alberdi.
The remaining land is released for public space as part of a new urban tour that connects the site with the system of public spaces in the city, mainly in the border area that is still today undergoing major transformation.
The building is resolved through the disassembly of a linear scheme into three strips, whose directions match those of the urban area, the traffic flows, as well as its internal operations.
These strips of different sizes, host the different uses and activities at various levels. The proposed space allows great flexibility of use and a dynamic relationship of interconnected spaces.
The arrangement of the volumes forms a typology of a triangular cloister, which defines an open space that connects the prisms, and builds a public plaza associated with the open space of a larger scale. So is a multiple structure of interconnected interior parts, and open-closed relationship.
The terminal building is conceived as a large "hall" at different levels, offering multiple uses and activities. In addition to meeting its own functional requirements, can be a meeting place for walking and coexistence.
The building is expressed through a language that suggests the material and method of use, three large prisms simply supported one on another, formed in its laterals for large beams, whose resolution was designed according to allow better balance between efficiency and spatial.
The resolution of the distribution of the loads of a prism on the other, is given by the superposition of the structural nodes of different volumes.
The envelope and the roof, considered third facade, offer a continuous folded surface, where the glass produced the deconstruction of the project limits, creating continuity between the interior and the central open space.
The condition of the metal structure becomes the initial input of the project and argument, not only to solve the supporting structure, but also the expression and spatial dimension, so that insertion of the building in the city tends to produce a combination between tradition and innovation, present and past.

Special Urban Plan, Calle San Juan
The Apart Hotel project is developed within the Urban Special Plan of San Juan street in the city of Rosario, focused on:
• Revitalize the central area
• Emphasize heritage buildings
• Incorporate new open spaces
• Encourage diversity and complementarity of activities
• Extend the time of active use of the sector

Located in an area with an L shape and with access from two different streets, the project seeks to relate to their immediate environment through their heights and shape, considering as a base point of intervention a building of patrimonial value located on the corner. The project consists of two separate towers, creating a gap in the middle where they are connected through the common spaces; giving priority to one of the towers based on their height and prominent pedestrian access.
