ARCHITECT RAFAEL IGLESIA'S OPINION ABOUT THE PROJECT: INTERMODAL STATION OF PASSENGERS.
In my modest opinion, I think the project "3 beams" seems more than interesting. Unlike the 1st. and 2nd. winners, I think it is more virtuous in the articulation of "the 3 buildings" - this, according to the jury, proposes a huge urban courtyard that is offered not only as "place of waiting" but as PLACE OF STAY. An enclosure, square or patio, as you want to call it, give something more to the city, than just "transit", "wait" and "run at full speed because I do not arrive." Not everything is "transfer" and flow of people, not everything is function "my dear friends".
The truth is that the topographical covers - as I believe in the 2nd. it is unbelievable in the way they are posed, (...) they seem to me "places without project" (...). It seems to me a giant and sensationalist effort, not to generate much more than a huge green void. As for the technical resolution of "3 beams", it may be that, as the jury says, the vertical structure that works as a beam with the horizontal, should only be the interior. That is to say the one that works in less light, and that the structure that precedes it towards the outside is but to support the "skin" or envelope. Maybe it was understood as double beam. So if I do not agree at all is that affect the "appropriation of the resulting spaces" !. Damn, the structure is the anatomical expression of the building, what is it that is wasted? !!! "
